Anchovy, one of the representative marine products of Gijang, is an indispensable source of calcium in our diet. Anchovy is caught mainly in spring and autumn in Gijang, and the fish are usually 10-15cm in length. The flesh is succulent and tender. The Anchovy Festival started as the national festival that represents Gijang, and was the first marine products festival. It started in 1997. It is a festival where visitors can enjoy various kinds of memorable events such as anchovy net fishing, free tasting sessions, sharing of raw fish and special marine products, and celebration performances of famous singers, offering an experience only available in Gijang on a warm spring weekend.
